Trike tips:

Hang test:

Once you have your paramotor mounted to the trike you must do hang test. By mounting trike your normal balancing point can change therefore it is very important to suspend the whole aircraft from rafter or such and make sure the angle is appropriate. In flight cage of the prop should be slightly tilted back. If this is not the case change balancing point by moving sling and carabiner on comfort bar to appropriate hole. Remember that this is your balancing point for flying with trike.

At the flight location:

Once this is tested you can proceed to trike flights. When you use the trike at the location you are flying from make sure you limit the amount of riding around unless the surface is absolutely smooth such as paved runway. The trike is design for managing take offs and landings only. The whole assembly is not sturdy enough for riding around on rough surface excessively. Also when you are seated in the trike support part of your body weight by your legs on placed steering pegs.

Flights:

First make sure that wind is anywhere for 0 to 5 miles per hour. With more experience you will be able to fly trike in winds up to 10 mph.

Attach the glider to appropriate balance point for flying with trike. Take a few extra minutes to lay out the wing. Set up a nice horseshoe shape, then simply pull on the trike, noticing how the wing is planning to come up before you get in. I like when the leading edge comes up all at the same time - perfectly horizontally. If one side is coming up first or the tips are coming up first, use the brake line to make adjustments or re set your glider. You can also use the wind if there is any to build a wall. Then start the engine and then get in.

Inflation and take off:

There is two ways how to hold the A risers on inflation.

You can place A risers between your thumbs and your index fingers, lift A risers a bit, feel tension on the lines. If you feel that tension is equal, go to full throttle, looking up, watching for the wing to come up. If the wing doesn't come up straight, simply reduce throttle, steer it gently back overhead making sure it is stable before going back to full throttle.

Another way is to hold the A risers between index and middle finger with palms facing forward. Roll yourself forward so you can feel tension on the lines, go to full throttle, looking up, watching for the wing. I've discovered that the wing comes up consistently straight by holding the A's like I mentioned before.  If the wing doesn't come up straight, simply reduce throttle, steer it gently back overhead making sure it is stable before going back to full throttle.

Caution: Full throttle on a trike whose wing is oscillating or off to one side can lead to tipping over,  equipment damage and possible injury.

Inflating an elliptical wing on a PPG trike is not difficult but it takes time to learn and practice to perfect. A trike takeoff should well planned and executed, never by luck or accident. I'd rather have a planned abort than an accidental takeoff.

Flight:

Flight with trike is pretty much the same as flying without it. It just feels bit more sluggish. The aircraft will not react as quickly as when flying without trike.

Caution: If you are flying trike you can not feel rough air as well as when you are flying without it. If you notice rough air in trike it is probably very rough air. You may want to land ASAP.

Landing:

Landing on trike is different from landing on foot launched. We simply do not need to flare quite so aggressively and bring the aircraft to zero ground speed. In fact you should use the engine to fly only inches from the ground and only flare very gently as to soften touch down. 95 % of your landing should be done by use of throttle.  Once you touch down though immediate turn the engine off and roll to complete stop.

Trike maintenance:

There is very little maintenance requires on this trike. It is out of plastic, stainless steel and aluminum. Make sure that you will do regular pre and post flight checks. To not over tighten U-clamps. Also pay close attention to state of the protective hose at the bottom of the comfort bar. It will wear out eventually. If you find it is not offering adequate protection, please replace it.
