May 16 and 27/19 – John first solo and 20 more flights

John signed up for training at the end of November. We managed to do ground school all the paperwork and spend one day at the field. John was pretty much ready to fly then but it was way too cold and I was afraid his hands would freeze. We were planned to do more in the winter but it was very cold and we didn’t get a chance. Then it was the wet spring so it took till end of May for us to continue. John quickly brought his skills back to perfection and on Sunday night managed to do first solo and two more flights. Next day in the morning he managed to do 17 more flights. He quickly learned how to takeoff and land without assistance and since his landings were perfect I was able to let him do touching goes. That evening John was going to fly his gear which is more agile and more powerful. Conditions were a bit gusty and the gear was slightly different so John had bit of a trouble to control the aircraft for the first half a minute of his flight. I have determined that it was too gusty to continue so we packed up and will meet again soon. John sits on 21 flights.
